Proper safety signage: a must in every building

June 25, 2009
Category: Safety Signs — By Brian

It is the moral and legal responsibility of the authorities to put up proper safety signage in every building. Often the building authorities neglect installing proper safety signage simply because they do not take the matter seriously. Instances have proved that when the authorities are guilty of not installing proper safety signage they can be punished legally.

A more drastic effect of not installing proper safety signage is that it can lead to injuries or even fatal accidents. So every building authority should take the required safety measures.

In a building where a large number of people gather, the safety signage should be installed in prime locations where people can see and read them. If the safety signage is installed in the wrong place, it is of little use.

The safety signage of a building must include two things. Firstly, a proper evacuation plan must be put up in more than one location. This is essential in case of emergencies and allows people to be evacuated from the building quickly and safely.

Fire safety signage is the other most important safety signage that every building authority must install. This should also include the instructions regarding how to use the fire extinguishers so that these can be used easily by anybody when required.
